So you have zero carhaul experience yet some broker is already promising guaranteed work and rates? This smells like someone is wanting to sign you up to run super cheap.

Well the best advice has already been given. Get paid to learn and any mistakes you make won't have to come out of your pocket or insurance.

Several years ago I planned to buy my own paid for rig and become a carhauler with zero carhauling experience. I have a best friend who had hauled cars for years who was going to train me. I figured I could do anything I set my mind to do. Boy am I glad I didn't, because I have learned so many things in the last 4 years hauling cars on someone else's dime. Fast forward 4 years and I just recently took delivery of my own brand new rig. I am still learning things every day, but I am much more prepared to be a successful carhaul owner operator today than I would have been as a brand new carhaul owner op 4 years ago. It may be possible to do what you are planning, but when you learn new things as a carhauler it is often because you have torn something up. It is much cheaper to get your education working for someone who pays for your mistakes. Just my opinion!

Stay away from the schools, they can't teach you what you need to know. United Road has a "training program" but even that's a joke. in my experience the best way to learn is haul cars from a rail head doing 1 load a day or more. Get to know all the drivers and chat them up about every thing they know. They will tell you how to load the truck and teach you the routes. After a year or so, you'll be ready to go independent.

Like it's been said don't pay to learn something that someone else will pay you to learn.

Cassens, Cooper or United Road are always looking for drivers in the Chicago area.
