are you losing any air?
-
The fan control is regulated by a solenoid which is commanded open/closed by the ECU.. A loss of air will activate the fan clutch, or the computer is seeing an abnormal temp..

No lost in air pressure. Temperature gage shows normal.

Replace the Fan Hub assembly then....
I had the same problem...No aiir leak, No Temperature issues....
Usually under $400 bucks, Well Mine was for a 3176 Cat motor -
I had that under consideration

Check the fan solenoid first. Probably not the problem but much cheaper fix if it is. Turn the key to the on position and then check for air leakage near the fan. You won't hear it leaking with the engine running and it won't leak with the key off. At least, that's how it went with mine.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking my problem is the the fan hub. The last 2 days the fan has been working like it should. The quality of freightlener trucks is horrible.
