Semi Truck Obliterates Kansas Turnpike Toll Booth

What do you want to bet the driver ran out of hours at noon, 2.5 hours south and west of Wellington, and had to wait until midnight to run to make the appointment wherever he was headed? (KC?) ... I hate those situations. I can not sleep days unless I'm already dead-tired having been up the last 24 hours, and then maybe only 4 hours of good sleep [if it's during the afternoon hours I have to sleep] eLogs and current HOS rules can be a blessing and they can be a curse.

Or, maybe the driver was otherwise distracted, but I'd lay good odds the driver was half asleep moments before the crash, given the hour.

They are going to be pulling over every semi in kansas for the next week or two

 

Guess that explains the TV news crews there when I came thru a little while ago ...the truck was gone

 

It's because of accidents like this that state troopers are hanging around toll booths enforcing reduced speed limits. That semi looks like a sardine can pulled open.

 

Me: Hi,(insurance agent), Why are my premiums increased again this year?
Agent: its an increase across the Board
Me: I see... everyone pays for others negligence so your annual increase of 2.5% in profits Never take a Beating right?

OK, the truck was gone. But what about the toll booth? Was it actually gone as well?
I haven't been on the Kansas Turnpike in a very long time. Are the toll booths manned or are they all automated now.
Wonder how badly hurt folks were. You just have to love the media with their "sensational non reporting." We DON'T want the facts ma'am, just the sensationalism. . .

 

The video says there was a passenger van getting a ticket when this a-hole rammed into it and into the toll booth, as well. This is what TAILGATING gets you!
