well from online research tonight I'd say the original is a National Captain on a #95 suspension. I know the thing rides all the way at the top until you sit in in it air up or not. I don't know if its supposed to do that ( assuming the gas shock does this ). I know the air height adjustment does work..... its a little threadbare but not terrible.

I'd fix it then ..ain't no such thing as a 500 doller seat anymore ...unless it's uncomfortable then I'd spend the money ..only reason I replaced the national instead of new coverings and foam was time.

You're probably right, the Captain was the most popular in Pete's, pretty much standard equipment for most interiors. Seat bases are common and easy to get, some other parts my take a little while to get, but they do sell all the parts. Most of ours only had 1 armrest, and we added the second. The black cloth ones only took about a week, the tan leather ones took about 3 weeks. We get our National parts from Cumberland Truck Parts, they are a lot cheaper than Peterbilt.
As far as the seat going all the way up, it's normal unless you drain all the air. It's just an air bag and with no weight, any air pressure makes it extend. The shock just keeps it from bouncing too much, doesn't change the height setting. If it feels like you're riding a hoppity hop, the shock is bad. -
I went to the Iowa 80 tonight and did some gawking,,,,,, I have to say I am pretty disappointed in their seat display but I suppose its what moves. They had primarily Sears Atlas II's out. I really liked the cloth one they had out but all they had was twin arms and my seat is too close for comfort. I don't want to be rubbing both seats because I was too stupid to buy what I needed instead of what was there in front of me. I also would like to have heated cushions.... so I think a phone call in the morning and see if thats orderable.
I like leather well enough but its hot when its hot and not particularly warm when its cold. I prefer cloth for versatility.
But you guys were right,,,, compared to rigid seat in the international 4300 I had the Pete seat is rolling in style but after sitting in the atlas I want one... -
Yeah lots to pick from ! ...only reason I prefer leather is the ability to clean it as I get dirty loading .
