truck driver, I mean completely green, zero experience. Just got his class B couple weeks ago and boss wants him to upgrade to an A. Word around the campfire is dude has a pretty crappy attitude as well, just cares about when he' ll be getting a raise.
I'm not much of a people person that's why I do foodservice lol. Certainly never been my vocation to teach, but I've been tasked with learnin this guy over the next few weeks and could use a bit of advice, tips, tricks etc. in dealing with a hard case noob.
We drag reefer pups with shaker Columbia daycabs and that worthless idiot shift 10 sp auto. I'm trying to stay positive as I have all weekend to drink.

Tap into your inner Sgt. Hartman. Make him or break him. It's hard to teach anything to someone who has a crappy attitude.
EZ Money, superflow, blairandgretchen and 2 others Thank this. -
At least no bad habits to break
TequilaSunrise and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I was going to suggest have a few beers this weekend...but you beat me to it
Salad Thanks this. -
Patience and a laid back attitude

true...I have tried teaching someone who "already knew it all"...knew better how to shift...how to back up how to do paperwork...no fun.

We re a small company, laid back is our middle name. They originally wanted him to get it by memorial day, but he dragged a bit getting the permit, we shuffled some routes around and now he can pretty much take all summer if need be.
I'm going to start running shuttles in 3 weeks til november, so I get prima nocta then the next sucker takes over. -
Take things slow. Very slow. You're used to everything so it is very easy to throw too much at a trainee. Just focused on one thing at a time.

We had a guy like that. " I've been driving twenty years" he said. He pissed all over the seat and didn't tell anyone. I think he lasted a week. I must be a good driver because I've been around for almost a year and have seen 10 drivers come and go (out of 6 trucks).Mike2633 Thanks this.

Make sure he has the proper class a permit first.
Lepton1 Thanks this.
