Ever see a truck with 2 ghost looking lights on top their cab and wonder WTF?

I've been puzzled by these things ever since I started driving. At first I thought they were something like a religious Buddha figure, the Stay Puff Marshmallow man, or left over Halloween decorations. I'm kind of embarrassed to say, it took me years before I could get a close enough look to figure out its a fat tire guy.

I have plenty of respect for the Michilan brand, but after many years of looking at these things on your sun visors, I looked them up and found they are selling for $20-80 per piece on E-Bay... OMG!

At that price I must assume they are free w/ purchase of a full set of tires. Or since I've never seen anyone sporting the image stuck on the side of the road w/ a flat they are some sort of mythical gods watching over the tires, like a genie or something.

Thanks for pondering this nonsensical thread w/ me

That's funny. I just saw a truck with those just yesterday at Landstar in St Augustine. Just when I thought a Volvo couldn't look any worse, and then there it was...

Read some where (maybe it was on here) that each michelin man represents a certain number of miles driven accident free over in the former soviet union.

Frankly its a good way to tell when you're around a polish driver that doesn't speak english or recognize our traffic laws.

It's a European trucking fad. Sort of like putting lights inside an air cleaner. Serves no purpose other than appearance.

I think those are a factory option on a Volvo aren't they? Somebody told me one time years ago that the ones with the Michelin men were how the Quebecers knew each other out on the road(Made some twisted sense since Michelin is French). Anyway I'd rather see that than the ones with the 5 or 6 spotlights mounted to the sunvisor. LOL Ironic in the end all these proud patriots from the old country wound up in the United States. Hmmm.

I've never seen one with the Michelin man that didn't have at least 4 extra fog lights.
