OP, are you riding coach or 1st class? I'm pretty sure Greyhound did away with Business Class last year. If you're in 1st class don't forget to tip the stewardess.

They did away with classes. It's a cattle car now.

You could try for a express routing on the correct bus. Better than visiting every, single. Burg. stop and go. for. 15 hours.I did that once in winter enduring a ice storm that left a foot of solid ice and a foot of packed dirty snow on top of that. One consolation, the driver was a warrior on that ice. The bus did good. (It had to.)

You want to take a sleeping bag and pillow on a 7 hr trip? Oh, it's for you in the truck, I see.

Take vinyl gloves, do not touch anything, keep your eyes to yourself. Just pack everything in the duffle, put a couple water bottles and snacks in the backpack, boom, you're on The Hound.

Yeah it's for the truck. I'm going to Orientation in Rochelle IL, from Indianapolis IN. Should only be a 4 hour trip...but you know how buses are. Bathroom breaks, Lunch etc. Booked for 7 hours.

Not sure if it's direct or if there's a transfer. When I Google mapped the "fastest route" it goes right through Chicago so I wouldn't be surprised.

Going out on the road with a "mentor" for 6 weeks straight before I upgrade to solo.

    Fun fun.

Truck stops have laundromats. Filthy places, but you can do laundry. I did laundry at a mega truckstop once, my clothes came out worse than they went in. Some bad person put greasy, filthy clothes in, didn't clean out the basket, and my stuff got a solid jolt of truck grease. Smelled better, though. Good luck.

The seats have different amounts of legroom. I spent about 14 hours with my knees smashed into the seat in front of me.

Lots of folks with hefty bags as luggage.

Company paid for the Greydog ticket. No worries, got my answer. A friend of mine from Trucking Academy had a layover in my hometown tonight on his way to Orientation in Arkansas.

He was on the Greydog. We went out for dinner during his layover. He said he just tied his sleeping bag to his backpack & stowed it overhead.

Watch for thieves when the bus stops. When passengers get off they sometimes grab an extra suitcase from the storage area outside.
As suggested before, roll pillow & sleeping bag tight and keep it inside even if you must carry it on your lap. 7 hours isn't too bad; it's long but you can handle it.

Starboyjim and Charlie Mac Thank this.
