I worked at Estes in Memphis for 5 months. I quit due to the poor equipment and maintenance. Pay and benefits were good but not good enough to screw up my csa. There are better and worse places to work.
-
I think Estes at least has NEMF beat in that regard.crb Thanks this.
-
I don't think anyone claimed that Estes was the best company in trucking, but they sure as hell beat 98% of other jobs in the industry.#KeepPounding! and Mike2633 Thank this.
-
Must of quit to soon because they have been replacing alot of trucks and trailers in the last couple of years.
crb Thanks this. -
Every LTL company slowed down on equipment purchases between '08 and 2011 or 12. They've all been slowly picking back up on it since. Even Central Transport finally bought a bunch of new trucks.

We just replaced several liftgate trailers.

I remember and it wasn't to long ago well it was, but it wasn't it seems like just yesterday if we get in to our time machine and go back to 2004 I remember seeing Central running Ford L9000 out in Avon, Ohio pulling auto parts. I haven't seen an old Central Ford in a very long time actually come to think of it haven't seen a Link, Pro Logistic, GLS Lease Co or Mahican in a long time. Your right though the past couple Central truck's I've seen were basic cheap-o-depot (stolen for Woodys) trucks, but they were new, base model, but new. Actually I haven't seen a Central Sterling in a while Gosh I can't believe they would even have any of those left, I would of just self destructed.

I worked for both Estes is worse than NEMF.But a good place to work if find a good terminal, the one i was in........mehhhh no so good.
-
Is anyone familiar with dock work at Estes? I have an opportunity to work there and eventually become a driver but the terminal manager said he's had guys there 2 years still part time. Should I just get a driving job somewhere else or go to Estes? I just think I'd be better off with Estes in the long run.
