So Thursday morning I was headed east bound on Main Street in Grand Prairie, TX going by that big Auto Auction. There was a really nice red Pete who was exiting the Auction on to Main Street. On his way out of the auction, his trailer high centered and he was stuck. The driver's tractor and part of his trailer had 2 out of 3 lanes blocked on west bound Main Street. The driver wasn't fully loaded, and may have had only one or two cars on his trailer.
To leave the auction, you have to climb a pretty steep hill on to Main Street.
The thing is, this is the 3rd time I have seen a car hauler get stuck at that same spot exiting the auction.
I know nothing about car hauling. So my question is...
What are these drivers doing wrong when they leave the Grand Prairie Auto Auction? Why do most drivers make that exit, but then an unlucky few get stuck on that hill?
I saw a car hauler high center his trailer at the Grand Prairie, TX Auto Auction

Pics? Need to see/////
Maybe trailer height is lower for some, maybe some were hung up on a curb, maybe road surface had an issue and some drivers do it right and some dont...
i always wonder how many of those guys get hung upon train tracks!!!
i ran lowboy forever, never really had an issue, car haulers lower than me tho...has to be PITA -
No pics. Just driving by. That auction has probably been there 50 years. I just figured someone was familiar with it.

Happened to me one time in the middle of an intersection on one of those little dips for water to drain along. Sometimes you can drag thru and other times you're just stuck.

Just looked on google maps & assuming when they stop to look for oncoming traffic would cause the problem. That is a pretty steep & short incline to get onto Main St. Whats worse is that is a IAA, so most cars would not run/drive. No option to load on the shoulder & the other entrance onto Main looks just as bad.
Getsinyourblood Thanks this. -
@LBZ IAA is Insurance Auto Auction? Yeah that's true. They have an auction for wrecked cars for sure. Not quite sure, but they may have an auction for running cars too, on a different day.
Yeah both entrances suck going in and out of there. But it's just the unlucky few who seem to high center, but it happens a lot. -
From what I'm seeing they should be using the eastern entrance. The Western entrance is all marred up from people scraping it.

You'll see it plenty more times to.
I try to never take an incline head on if possible. I've never been there so in this case I can't say if it's possible to angle across it or not.Getsinyourblood Thanks this.
