It just seems a little odd that a car hauler can't even leave the premises without the risk of a high center. No warnings. No communication. Nothing.
-
Not really. Dealers and yards don't care about how it gets there or leaves just as long as it does.
KANSAS TRANSIT, tech10171968, crb and 2 others Thank this. -
Something to try if you're ever caught up is to adjust the leveling valves on the truck & trailer to max out ride height...might pick you up enough to get you unstuck...just remember to put it back where it was once you are clear of the obstacle.

I have an air lift for both the tractor and trailer. It should be a requirement because if you don't have it, sooner or later it's going to bite you.Hammer166 and Getsinyourblood Thank this.

How does it work? Just a switch that sends all 120-140psi to the bags? Or is it a separate bag system that lifts it more?
-
Cottrell uses a secondary height control system, Boydstun and Delavan just bumped the pressure up enough with a regulated supply to top out the bags.brian991219 and Terry270 Thank this.

The root of the problem is it is a salvage auction, those facilities are not really designed for traditional car haulers since most of the work is brought in on flatbed tow trucks. Many moons ago it was also taken back out on flatbeds or specially designed Landoll trailers, but today with the salvage auctions eliminating their in house fleets and load boards like CD that help buyers get "cheap" transportation it will keep happening at those places. This truck is how salvage is meant to be hauled, not on a traditional car carrier, stinger or high mount.

I got stuck coming out of that auction. Here is the problem. There is no exit or enter sign so most drivers know that the 2nd entrance cannot be used as an exit. It's not a guarantee that you won't get stuck coming out of either driveways especially if you have to yield to traffic heading westbound. In my opinion, it's just too steep and they should fix it. Another car hauler pulled me out thankfully not before a 4 wheeler asked me if I had a license and I told him to go f*&k himself amogo!
Getsinyourblood Thanks this.
