In my alcohol induced single days many years ago, I have had many things on my face I prefer to not talk about, especially near my wife. We will just have to agree to disagree on whether a hotel or sleeper is better.Colorato, Terry270, WiseGuy860 and 2 others Thank this.

Lol. I will respect that response. Have a great night.
Banker Thanks this. -
I stay at super 8 mostly, and I always check the sheets and pull up the sheet to check the mattress. 3 times in 4 years I have had to call the front desk and request a different room or ask that the sheets be changed.
It will always come down to personal preference. If I'm on a long run I'll probably grab a shower and dinner at the Love's, drive until I'm tired and get in the sleeper. If I unloaded somewhere and it's going to be 14-15 hours before I load again then hotel it is.
Do you pay for the hotels or does the company? -
Some nights I wish I had a sleeper. Especially when running east since majority of the hotels parking lots out there aren't really built to accommodate a car hauler.
I carry Lysol and I ain't afraid to use it. You pick up tricks on what to do and where to look in rooms. I always use the ice bag to cover the remote, check the beds especially around the headboard and seams and side dresser drawers. Same as Banker I ain't afraid to change rooms or leave the hotel if it's a #### hole. -
The company pays and then takes the total amount out of my settlement. I can often get a $100 room for $50-$70. The cheaper hotels are usually $40-$60. Sometimes a high rise Crowne Plaza that would be well over a $100 is $60. The nicer the hotel is usually the better the stay and I have found that for me the extra $20-$30 is well spent. Some places the hotel will come pick you up at the terminal and I leave the rig there. I will agree that occasionally I wish I had a sleeper, but not often enough to give up my day cab and 11 car capacity. What works for me may not work for the next person, but that is the best part of living in a free society, we don't all have to do the same thing.

Terry the card that I have personally is set up to come out of my checking account. The only difference is I wouldn't always get the same rate and it is a $5 transaction fee instead of $3 with my companies card. There is an app for smartphones that show you where the hotels are located, if they have truck parking and the cost for every different night of the week. Some rates are different depending on the day of the week. Last week there was a special event near the hotel and they wouldn't accept the CLC card, but my AARP card got me $30 off the room rate. There are a few advantages to getting old!Terry270 Thanks this.

Sounds like it's working out much better for you then. Maybe it has something to do with me being a one man operation. I caught them several times being slightly more expensive than the best cash rate. And the last time I used it was in TX where the final amount that came through was like $12 more than the CDL rate that anyone can pull up in a truck and ask for. I gave them the opportunity to fix it but they told me I was Sol so I filled a dispute on the charge and called the hotel and paid the CDL rate over the phone. They don't make any money off of me anymore. The only thing that card does for me now is that some hotels let me show the card but pay with my company card(or cash sometimes) which is awesome. I've found that most hotels hate CLC. They sometimes don't pay the hotel for months

You might try aarp or aaa membership. They are both fairly cheap for an annual membership and both normally get the cheapest rate a hotel offers. You don't have to be a certain age to get the AARP.

I'm only 30 lol. I would get some funny looks I'm sure! I've been a AAA premier member for years now and from what I've seen the CDL rate usually beats it.
