Never been to a wharehouse.. a few warehouses, though. :)

It varies. So far, I've done deliveries from producer to warehouse (mostly) and from producer to end-user (retailer).

I think it's going to depend on what company you sign on with. The Werner recruiter I spoke with said they do mostly big door to big door - not much in the way of end user delivery at all (if any). When they don't do drop & hook. Take that with a grain or two of salt, if you will.

Personally, I would think that unless you get on with a company that does its own hauling, warehouse to warehouse to warehouse loads won't be a constant source of happiness in your life

I have picked up just about everything you can think of. From Cummins engine parts in dallas to the Memphis plant to an Amish persons house in PA ( Custom Bed Frames ) to Jersey. BTW it was a nightmare getting to that guys house in the middle of a field with no driveway.

very tough questiuon!! it could be anything to and from anywhere.
you could haul parts (as i have) from DANA to an assy plant then p'up there partially assempled parts going somewhere else to be further assembled. then take emty racks used for shipping said parts back to the first place. or haul stuff from a manufacturer to a dist. center
    dist. center to retailer etc.
rolls of paper to an envelope manufacturer t then pickup envellopes there and go to someones DC that sells envelopes. LOL
the possibilities are endless with "general freight":biggrin_25525:

Yes, the possibilities are endless. I hauled grills, tires, paper, brand new empty trailers, frozen butter (in a dry van - cali to WI, and it was still frozen in July!), appliances, and I don't even remember what else. My husband has hauled a wide variety of freight too. The main times you would actually see a retail location is if you ran a dedicated route like some companies have.I know that Werner has a Walmart and Target dedicated, and a couple of others that I don't remember.

Dim - that Amish stop sounds almost like the sprout farm my hubby had to pick up from - would have been better with a box truck than a 53 footer!

Depending on the company that you work for will depend on the p/up's and del.'s you make. and the freight that you haul.

I've always loved hearing that last part. I was working out of a yard a few years ago driving a Volvo 6 axle straight dump and a guy called in and said he needed a load of 57 limestone. The dispatcher looked at the board and I was up next so he gave it too me. I show up on this residential lot with 21 tons of rock. This guy was stunned but his kids (under the age of 10) were absolutely thrilled. And I got to hear that same statement. Funny thing was, he took the load.
