Years ago I hit a hard bump on a 2 lane road and one landing gear dropped down and the pad sliding on the pavement made one heck of a noise. I got stopped before it caught in a hole and got ripped off so I scratched my head, saw that the spare under the trailer was flat, I wrestled the tube out of the spare tire and used that to tie up the landing gear so I could get home. The gear in the box broke and that leg just free fell down.
1st time situation since I've been driving.

Thank you, sir.
Another has cast a vote to continue to try to stupidproof trucking, so Stupid doesn't get into trouble. If it really was about safety, you would simply take Stupid out of the truck.tinytim, G13Tomcat, Pedigreed Bulldog and 2 others Thank this. -
The Parkway is I-376, runs from the turnpike through Pittsburgh out to the WV line.

No it doesn t happen alot.In fact never unless you didn't crank the landing gear all the way up.Its a very costly thing to fix or replace..Fro.m now on make sure it's all the way up.Otherwise it could really be a costly error on your part if say you go over railroad tracks and You get stuck in between the rrtracks.

I've always said that stupid should be painful. If it was, perhaps it would encourage people to be less stupid. Unfortunately, many in society want to wrap everything in bubble wrap to prevent natures rules from applying to mankind. No longer is it "survival of the fittest", and the stupid are allowed to live long enough to breed and pass on their stupidity to the next generation. Won't be long before we're watering our crops with Brawndo...

Well, it does have what plants crave..... Electrolytes!

You're welcome. There are three types of truck drivers. The first one would never have tried it. The second one would have stopped when his steer axle dropped off the ledge. The third one would have kept going after his steer axle dropped off the ledge. Which one is the stupid one?
It's like that old platform scale with the curve in it at the old 76 south of Chicago. People were always shocked when they dropped their trailer of the scale and needed a tow truck. -
This driver didn't drop his front axle off. A big drop will gash the fuel tanks and maybe even the oilpan. He was making a turn. He saw the drop. He hit the ramp in a way to avoid dropping the front a foot and a half. He forgot about the landing gear.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
