I have been off the road for many years and am looking to leave manufacturing and go back to driving. There are some very good reasons but I wont go into all that...
In my search for a good refresher course that's affordable I have talked to MANY schools. In fact almost all around us and they have some excellent facilities. My issue was either the cost, class size or the attitudes of the instructors. The costs range from $4000 to $11000 for a full CDL course and there are some bad attitudes in some of the schools. To that end I took the time to meet and great the people who run these schools.
After meeting A and B CDL in person I must say I am impressed they are open and friendly. They make you feel at home and maintain a small class size. The biggest thing for me was the fact that they are willing to work with my schedule and that is huge!
They are small, caring and frankly not the run of the mill cdl school I thought that I would spread the good word about them for others.

I am in talks with NTB the school I am going too trained the owners sons to my surprise! They are apparently good friends.
I did not know that until after I contacted NTB.
They are offering two full days a week home good pay and a big one for my wife and I 10% match 401k. The recruiter has been nothing but professional with me and is no BS from all I can tell. Very direct answers.
I'm also looking at a few small companies near by. The wife has stated I will be home at least 2 days a week this time around no more 3 weeks out but that doesn't appear to be an issue there's plenty of regional company's around me.
I've been turned down by a couple so far. We live north of m21 and that's a cutoff line for many company's -
The further North you live in Michigan, the fewer choices. Looks like you're in a good position. Good luck in your new career.

Avoid SuperService, their pay is just laughable. NTB is good, MTS is also good once you have some experience. I drive for Hutt out of Holland, and I forget what their experience requirement is exactly, but the pay is pretty good, and it's small enough, the owner will likely recognize you in Meijer after a while.

@dngrous_dime Thanks I am trying to put in multiple applications. I will look into Hutt!
Super service is literally off the list. I have never been treated so bad by a recruiter as by SS. I will go anywhere before them. -

Have a friend that went to NTB that I went CDL school with out of Lansing and loves it there. Home two days a week and most of their runs are going to meijers, also had a 2 guys go over to Trans Way out of G.R. they seem to like it.

TransWay website has 2 yrs. experience required; is the website out of date?
Website also has "up to .58 cpm" and $2000.00 sign on bonus.
Nice equipment also. Wonder if they still would hire new CDL grads.
