So yesterday my dispatcher asked me to take my truck to the shop to have the window and cigarette lighter fixed. Being a small company I feel my question, "should I stay to help fix the truck?", was justified. Also this has been their normal business practice, which I WAS ok with. I can fix most small problems, but I feel I have the right to know in this instance. Keep in mind that the dispatcher is the owners mother. Sticky. She responds, " Shut up (my name), you know better than that." My response was to tell her not to talk to me like that, and left immediately.
Shouldn't there always be respect in business relations? It's a shame, I really wanted to like this company, and wanted it to work out. But there are so many small things that keep adding up.

So that was the final straw not just a knee jerk reaction?
Of course her statement does kind of evoke a response of "No problem, you'll never hear from my fat ### again"! -

Sorry for your issue with it, but sometimes you have to deal with people who need to grow up. We all put up with crap all the time and just move on by not going down to the level of being oversensitive.
I have to deal with a shop manager who calls me a ####### every time I go to his shop. He can't drive any truck thanks to his 14 accidents with the company in the past 3 years, and I drive it for them when they need large press parts delivered. Does it bother me?
At first it did but then I though who has the 14 accidents, and what does that make him? A #######. -
Yeah tis true. Never had to deal with this until I left the company I started with 3 yrs ago. Guess I'm new to this part of trucking. We argued, but nothing disrespectful.

Seems like a bitter person. Id stick around and see if anything changes. There should be mutual respect but maybe over time itll come. Stay busy and make $$$

I've found that the smaller companies tend to require somewhat thicker skin, especially when they're family owned.CasanovaCruiser, GarlicBreadBandit, Dark_Majesty_06 and 4 others Thank this. -
Mack is right, ignore negative people. Or, are you sure it was OK for you to out there in the shop? If you are looking for respect from others in the truck industry, good luck with that. Pick up and deliver on time, be polite with customers, don't crash your truck. Look for all that personal stuff in your private life. What? You're a truck driver and you don't have a life? Join the party, driver.

My old dispatchers told me to f myself once. But in the end we both ended up laughing. Sometimes you can't take this #### seriously, so let it go.
Blackshack46, JReding and sphlaxter Thank this. -
