Schnider or interstate?

My phone works really well with voice commands. I can even send text messages and have my emails read to me and my phone never even has to leave the bunk

Same. If I ever wished to use my phone while not looking at it or touching it, I can just say "hey Siri" and then talk. She does everything else. Including making this forum post and reading it back to me first to make sure it's spelled correctly.

100% hands and eyes free response to you. And no, I'm not driving. I'm in my bunk. But it was worth the 10 extra seconds it took for her to do this to prove a point.

 

As far as thinking there's no overkill on safety. Potentially. But.. Let's put it this way.

My truck will auto use jakes. It will also auto match speed with car in front of it. I can't use cruise while using the wipers. If it detects something stopped in front of it, it'll automatically apply up to 50% brakes.

That's just tech in the truck. There's also the monitoring of everything I do. Including live monitoring my following distance.

While these systems do make you safer, they tend to screw up once in a while. And there's nothing better than going under an overpass on NJ turnpike in a downpour when onguard decides that the overpass is stopped in front of you. All of a sudden the truck slams on brakes, full jake is applied and you're not feeling so safe...

 

Which one did you choose?

 

They require 6 months experience with a load board, (Landstar / Schneider) or must do 1 month training with a load planner prior to planning yourself..

 

Will the planner keep you consistently moving with the best available freight, that's the question.

 

Safety is good, but having said that, trucks like Swift and Schneider being governed so ridiculously slow (esp. in places with 70-80 mph limits) makes them a hazard, or at the very least a major cause of congested traffic, as two of them battle it out for miles in adjacent lanes through rolling mild grades, and all for a scant mere extra 4 miles of distance by shifts end.

 

I'd go with Interstate..............as you are able to spell it.

 

Keep you moving, yes. Best paying available freight, not so much.
I've noticed some "shady" stuff, ie freight that is not on the load board and turning down a preplan that was ridiculously cheap only to be followed by something significantly higher in revenue.
