I'm in a similar spot - almost done with approval process, but trying to decide if we should go with Landstar or Mercer. Husband and wife team buying a new truck with 120" sleeper. Leaving Prime after 4 years (leaving at end of lease and on good terms, only because they don't take bigger sleeper cabs).

 

Just finished orientation last week in Ft. Worth. Met a lot of good people who are happy. The message is.... if you have a good head and do what needs to be done, you will do very well. They do not hold you hand. It's as close to your own authority as your going to get. To me, this means is opportunity for the right person.

Reading this makes me want to come over. I consider myself pretty smart business wise, and if I can find the agents that are fair and not completely out to screw over BCO's, then I can make it work. I certainly welcome challenges.

I can say so many people have been helpful with their experiences and advice. Can't say enough how much it's appreciated. Need all the info you can get when making these tough decisions, especially given the state of the industry.
