As of now I am scheduled for June 9th, but my instructor is going to keep checking for cancellations and will get me in earlier if possible. And I get an hour and a half of extra practice the day of the test. It isn't a lot, but I didn't get practice the day of the test the first time I took it, so maybe it'll help.

I need to pass my backing procedures and driving less than 10 miles on the real road. I wasn't able to do the real driving because I failed the backing.

In Texas if you do perfect on everything else you can pretty much butcher the backing and still pass. If you do a total jack knife or hit something yes you will fail but your backing doesn't have to be good at all. When i took my test it was just a straight back and then a parallel park which were both easy. No cones or anything we just had to back up a couple hundred feet in one lane and then start in the left lane and back into the right lane taking as much distance as necessary.

Oh geez am I jealous. The lanes were really narrow and you can't cross imaginary lines if you oversteer. The examiner said he could tell I'd be a good driver except for the backing. I'm really scared I won't pass next time too. I've just been pretty down since I failed.

I used to pretend I was the jolly green giant

I would mentally walk up to the trailer facing it, pick it up, and roll it where i wanted it

    just do that

Got a PS4? pop in grand theft auto, steal a fuel rig, back all thru the city!!

Imaginary lines? What did they just have cones laid out? My school only had cones and some days it was so hard to see where the trailer actually was in a crooked line of cones. Then when I got to the test site, they had nice bright white lines plus cones that were actually orange and I had no problem. For what it's worth, it is much easier backing between two objects than just lines. In my opinion at least. More risk sure, but you have better reference points.

You should see me back in a truck stop. If there is one or two trucks next to my lane, I usually swing it in on one shot. If I pick an empty row in the back for a quite nights sleep, I almost always need to do a pull up or two. Still haven't figured that one out. You'll see once you start bumping docks at customer's. The lines are never straight!

At least now you know what to expect and as soon as you get the backing down you'll be good to go. I'm sure you're a lot better than you think you are and just let your nerves get the better of you.
