Why do you guys think I won't get my authority, I am working under someone else's with so my insurance is cheaper.

This is not because of deregulation but because we have too many poor drivers out there causing more problems for us with a revolving door of employment. You can think it is just these large mega companies but it isn't, a lot of smaller carriers hire poor drivers because they already play high rates, so it doesn't matter.

I have a process for hiring, it is a pain in the butt to go through. It includes more than just an MVR and superficial background check but then I don't want to hand over my property to anyone with a CDL and want to lessen the liability.

Sorry, Insurance companies can do as they please, just like you can refuse any load you want. There are way to many trucks out here running with little oversight and everyone gets lumped together.

Emco, what ended il happening? Were you able to find someone to add more trucks? I am in a similar position insurance won't let me add more than 3 trucks. Looking forward to your update. Thank you.

I ended up getting insurance with another ins company that only allows me to operate withing 300 mile radius of company location. The insurance is affordable and its working out for me. This almost shut me down because every company was quoting me 20k+ per truck and they all wanted a huge down payment, I had 6 trucks so you do the math. Good luck, I hope you can figure it out. If you are not being canceled stick it out with 3 trucks until your company becomes older and they allow you to add more trucks. My problem was I was never warned and they just decided to cancel me. Good luck!

I am going thru a renewal right now, majority of companies still won't touch me, because I am only a year old.
What surprised me, is that Northland, one of the most popular companies, had refused me, because my trucks are older, than 2006. If other insurance companies will start refusing coverage, because of older trucks, it's gonna be messed up for a lot of people
