I'm guessing it's one of the systems that has a large tank at the back of the cab and keeps the oil level topped off? Quite an unnecessary system if you just check your oil level every day....

Mine is under hood right behind passenger steer tire. Has a filter in it. Clear tube down side for level. Looks to hold like 2 gallons. Didn't know what it was until looking on Access Freightliner. I assume if engine using a lot of oil and going cross country it would have some benefit. I may remove it.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I do not recall who made those but I liked them in fleet operations with manual valves. Saved the company a lot of money not buying oil on the road, running trucks low on oil and they knew it always had the correct oil. Never had oil jugs leaking in the side box. If you buy oil on sale like Coal you could do the same thing but might have to put a ball valve on it. Good idea to put one on the air supply also so when the sight tube breaks it will not keep blowing oil on the turbo. Then you have a real hot rod.
The ones I saw that were automatic also had a timer and a valve to inject a little oil into the fuel tank on a regular basis. Just change the filters every 15,000 and never remove the drain plug. My experience with that was bad.
