Spoke to my buddy who is an owner operator (sleeper truck and only hauls dry van). He did 3 loads for us foods when they went on strike. He said he got paid $700 a day, hauled a 28 foot pup trailer with no lift gate but they loaded an electric pallet jack.

He had about 9 stops a day (didn't know the case count). He wasn't supposed to touch the freight, each stop he went to, three sales reps were there to unload and dolly it in to the restaurant.

Said a bunch of other fat lazy owner operators just ditched the load at us foods when they got there and realized they might have to touch freight.

Heard the union syscos are next here to go on strike to show solidarity

    Mike2633 and tucker Thank this.

It's not that handling freight is a bad thing-it's just more work and more liability. And often it can be time consuming, so the rate needs to reflect that.(It rarely does) And you're buddy is still a scab, hurting his fellow drivers and attempting to lighten the impact of their strike. I'm not in a union, but I still have integrity, and would pass on a 50$/hr scab opportunity.

Not here to start anything. I think guys who work for companies like jb hunt are more harmful than scabs crossing the picket line.

I was a union guy when I was sysco and personally didn't have any problems or issues with it. I currently work for a non union company and am blessed and fortunate they still take care of us very well here ($5 hr higher wage than sysco for starters)

This post was made for us in the food industry let's not make it into a pissing contest

We are all supposed to go on strike on the 6th. At least those of us that have the intestinal fortitude (balls) to do so!

There is a call on social media to park the trucks on June 6th, the same time the RoadCheck by the DOT happens for 72 hours. Ain't going to a strike, just stay calm and keep Trucking.
