I jokingly told her, "If you don't go with me, stay in touch." "I'll send some post cards."
My home state of Tennessee is beautiful, but life only goes around one time, so I'm going to finish my life in a warm climate.
Fried on CA. Thinking about relocating.

Mine listened a little more when I showed her those nice homes on propertyVEGAS and Zillow websites.
Good prices and good schools. Still she doesn't want me to think I won 100%, so she gripes sometimes.MrEd Thanks this. -
I too am 52 years old and am wanting to relocate someplace with a good salary and low cost of living.
I read a CNN article that listed the top 10 States to live and work, Washington was number one. I've visited there and it's beautiful... during good weather. I did check a little into job scene but I believe it would be too depressing to live there with their dreary winters.
I'm also married to a Filipina, just celebrated 10 years together, and with our 2 kids live in Davao City, Mindanao; hometown of the next President of the Philipines.
Before becoming a CDL driver I spent more than half the year at home in the Phils and the rest of the year at my job driving passengers from SFO airport, a job that lasted for 22 years. I really enjoyed dealing with my passengers. After getting my CDL I spend 3 months at home and 9 months a year working.
Also, I'm sure it was mentioned as a joke, but Uber has a project to develop "Johnny Cab" which'll replace the need for human drivers before us 52 y.o. guys ever reach 80.
My main point is to confirm that I see foreigners over there who live off their retirement in nice apartments, down to those who just rent a simple room to enjoy their beer, smokes and the occasional short-time girlfriend.
Medical & dental care is good and very cheap compared.
Go there and get your teeth done and including all travel expenses, it'll still be less than the same dental work in the US.
Living there can be done, and still have fun on the cheap, as compared to living like that in the US. Flights to Manila go for about the same cost as flying to Hawaii. $560 from LAX is the lowest I've seen.
Whew, this kept me up 2 hrs past my sleep time. But I learn a lot from it too.

@Rodeorowdy - Congratulations on your travels. My wife is Chinese and we have 2 boys. You would never guess they are half Chinese though except when they talk; both white roundeyes with brown hair.
There's a big Chinatown section of Las Vegas that has representation from all the Asian countries; lots of Philipinas there.
The medical treatment you mentioned is a good deal. Also, a friend of mine was diagnosed with prostate cancer & the doctor said he would need surgery and afterwards would be impotent. He was about 50 or early 50's at that time. Instead of the surgery, he went to Mexico and had "ultra high frequency ultrasound" treatment. It killed all the cancer cells and he's not impotent; just as good as new. He did that a few years ago and still in excellent health.
Well, take care and good luck in your future.
Edit : I think Duarte is the best thing since Marcos. Can't be worse than all those in between. @Rodeorowdy
Imelda Marcos foot fetish shoe collection comes to mind.Last edited: May 27, 2016

Left Frisco in 2000 and moved to Carson City, NV. Should have moved years earlier. The only bad thing about living here, is that we're to close to Kalifornia. I may have to move inland.

No its not. People are leaving CA in droves. The liberals have overrun the state with way too many laws. The CA you once knew is gone. If you own and shoot firearms, its even worse now. Be glad
that you moved to a freer state.6daysontheroad and Chinatown Thank this.
