Don't leave your current school! Many companies will reimburse you the cost over the 1st or two, and you won't be under contract with anyone for training expenses. School is designed to only teach you the basics- just enough to pass the cdl driving test. I paid for my own training and drove for Werner for my 1st company, left after 4 months when offered a local gig elsewhere, and was able to leave on good terms without owing them a dime.

Well then. That is true :p they make it seem like it's totally fine that it takes most students 4-5 times to pass the test, keep shelling out money for practice time, and waste weeks waiting for opening times to re test. I am not gonna do that...

It is not fine. They are obviously a very poor school. Obviously not every one will pass the first time or at all. But the vast majority should leave the school with a valid cdl. Driving a truck is not brain surgery and almost all of us are born with the ability to learn the skills required to pass a driving test.

Oh wow that's great you found an awesome school! I wish there was a community college around that offered such a program :( In the twin cities area, there's a community college that does class B, and then 2 private schools for class A--the one I'm at and one that uses a simulator to count for behind the wheel hours....I thought my school HAD to be better than that because at least they don't make us play video games :p

Yeah I just feel like I'm such an idiot for spending that money and not even knowing how to back in a straight line...I normally can at school! But on the test I hit a cone like a piece of ****

The thing is, my school functions on students who are getting tuition 100% through government funding. I'd say 90% of the students are Somalian immigrants and they don't care if they fail because they aren't paying for more practice. But I worked in minimum wage for a long time to save up for school, so I can't afford to pay for more time!

I put in applications for Roehl's, Knight's, and Millis' CDL training.

Thanks! They were on my list of places to apply when I got a CDL, but I did not know they had training!

Thats awesome you got a good tuition payment program :) I want to do that, but the problem is I will have to pay my school for more practice if I fail this 2nd test. I am completely broke. Basically, when I got enough money for school, I quit my fast food job and went to school right away. It probably wasn't the most 'responsible' plan, but....who wants to work one more day in fast food than they need to? :p

Pawn/sell something if you have to.... Even if you do apply elsewhere you would be looking at a few weeks to a month to get a start date.
