West bound loaded down with an oversize pipe on my stepdeck headed home to Sin City. I hop off at exit 456 in Texas to take my thirty. I back in to a nice little spot I found as far from the Pilot I could find. I turn off the motor in my 97' Freightliner. I turn up the radio with Kid Rock rocking out “My only words of wisdom are just, Radio Edit, I'm flicking my Bic up and down that coast and Keep on trucking until it falls in the ocean.” I take a sip out of my coffee as I hop out of the truck to stretch. After spending a couple minutes getting the blood to start flowing through my body I crack open one of my meal preps filled with Chicken, sweet potatoes and broccoli. I Stand outside of my truck while I eat and look around the truck stop. I see the usual. Some guy parked in the fuel island, another struggling to back into a spot and trucks coming and going. The thing I see that bothers me the most is the men and women walking out of the truck stop weighing 300+ pounds breathing heavy because its hard to walk and climb in there own truck. They are the same people with a couple 2 liters of soda and 2 extra large pizzas for themselves. Every time I look up and see this it makes me mad cause of the negative look it gives to us truckers. Truckers use to be looked at as bad ### road warriors in fast trucks with chrome 10'' pipes and sweet paint jobs. Now we are looked at as fat scumbags with mullets that drive ugly beat down trucks and eat like pigs. The trucking industry has the fattest employees of any industry, 39% of Drivers are obese. Think about that for a second. We are an industry of fat ###’s. The thing to realize about our health is that it has effects on our driving, decision making, discipline and our moods. It's not impossible to live a clean and healthy life while being on the road. It is more difficult and takes more discipline. I am starting this here to help all the truckers out there who want to get back into shape. I am going to be give tips on eating healthy and clean, simple exercises and stretches, meal planning and meal preps to help optimize your life as an over the road driver. Its time to change the look of this industry from fat slobs to healthy, fit professional drivers.

If anyone has any questions feel free to hit me up on my DM.

Best thing I did was switch to cereal for breakfast and also cut out all refined sugar. Buy milk daily for cereal. Saves a lot of money and is a much better start to the day for me. Vector cereal is my choice. I don't care for the sugary ones.

That reminds me that I have to get some corn dogs and put mustard on them.
At least the fat people are dying off quick and not drawing Social Security.

Definitely not the worst way to go but you might want to look to a good Greek yogurt low in sugar. A couple scoops with granola or oats and some berries. Very delicious and an easy alternative to cereal.

Food is fuel. Don't eat so #### much and get obese stupid.

Part of my family has always been big and beefy. I work on losing a little bit of weight constantly. If I was on the road again throwing chains and binders on flatbedding I would drop from 195 back towards 160 or less in a few months time. But that wont happen in my future. Not unless I go to Oz and get a new heart or something. Ive already fixed everything that can be fixed and should discard my spine for a new one.

I suspect sometime in my life time spines can be built to replace a rotted one.

Amen brother! I've only been driving for 3 1/2 years and am usually embarrassed for some of my fellow drivers I see at truckstops. I actually feel sorry for some. The sad part is that most are relatively young.

I am in my mid 40's and am constantly looking for new ways to stay healthy and not get fat. A daily sweat for 20-30 minutes along with a healthy diet work great for me. It's not difficult to get into a Wally world once a week to find healthy food and stock up with water.

Any type of exercise done daily is great. Even a 30 minute walk, which sometimes is all I can get in, is exercise.

So come on fellow drivers, let's get out of that truck and do something.
