highbeams or lights out?

I go lights out during the night and high beams during the day if theres traffic, if not during the day I usually dont flash. Been noticing though lately at night when I flash to let someone in they are either to lazy to hit the marker interrupt or hit 4ways or just dont care. I still think of it as a way of letting em know they are clear and saying hello to them. Remember we are all out there doing the same thing is it that hard for a little thank you or hello back??

 

Personally I always lights out. At night it wont blind them and in the daytime no one notices either way unless they are looking in the mirror at that moment. So why risk blinding a guy that is now just off your front bumper?

 

I do lights off at night, flash in daylight.
My truck has an interrupt switch, but it does nothing, I have checked.
So I use signal light to say thanks.
If there is any question at all what a 4-wheeler behind them will do ,then do nothing. You do not want to say they are clear, then 2 seconds later the 4-wheeler floors it and jumps into there blind spot.
When in doubt as to which to do, don't signal at all.

 

Wear out your light switch? Maybe that buffet belly gets in the way when you lean forward to do it. Take a hand off of the wheel? What? You drive and automatic, son?

If you are one of the drivers that are that challenged, that's ok, just do nothing, I will get past you without your help. No thanks offered.

 

Actually, I do not eat buffet or have a large belly.

I drive my truck at 60 to 61. I am passed by everything. When I move over and the truck does not flash to let me back in. He gets the same when he passes me.

I personally do not need the flash as I know where my trailer is. The only time it is helpful is in the rain.

Besides, I have had to replace the light switch before. So I am well versed in what I talked about.

 

When I've been in a 4 wheeler and blinked my lights, some drivers thank me, some don't. No big deal. It's like holding the door for someone. Sometimes they say thanks and other times they don't. Doesn't mean that I didn't do a good thing. There have been days when I may have not said thanks because of other things I was distracted by, but it doesn't mean I wasn't thankful. Do good just cause you want to, and not to be praised for it and you'll feel better about yourself.

 

Amen! I am a scoutmaster for a boy scout troop, and that is the kind of attitude that we try to instill in the boys from day one. It helps make the world much more pleasant! BTW, I always say 'Thank You' to anyone that holds a door open for me!

 

If you remove one hand from the steering wheel, ...... does that mean you're driving with NO hands on the steering wheel?

 

When you are being passed by other trucks, there is a great deal of wind movement on the trailer. I feel it is not advisable to remove hands when the trailer is being moved around.

Usually when one truck passes, many more do as well. I am driving 60 for conservation. After all, I pay for the fuel.
