I used to buy 2 to 3 pairs of wally world boots a year, i figured same price per year as a nice set but every 4 months i had new boots, with new tread excc... but even with insoles my feet hurt. Right now im wearing (believe it or not) sketchers boots, steel toe, anti slip excc... there really not bad, twice as much but so far worth it. I still cant bring myself to buy a pair of boots for 150 bucks....

It depends on how often you're going to wear them. When I worked in corrections I had to Wear them 12+ hours per day and was on my feet for most of it. For that work I have a nice pair of redwings with laces and a zipper.

For what I do now I only wear boots for a couple hours at a time a couple times a week. Cheap wally world boots work just fine for that. My wife even found a pair on sale for ten bucks. I have them sitting at home as a backup.

Advice for those that don't know. Steel toes should be loose around your toes. I never could get comfortable in them. Then I went to a Redwing store and was fitted with the perfect size boot. They measure your feet and spend a good deal of time to find you the right boot for the conditions you're working in.

I'm going to be paying close attention to this thread. I need a new pair soon. I had a pair of Dickies hardshoes for the past year and a bit and they are now falling apart (nothing against the brand, I literally can destroy any shoe or boot in a much shorter amount of time than most because of my stupidly high instep and wide feet).

I definitely need something completely water-proof.

Had these for 2 years now. I broke my ankle 3 years ago in a pair of lace ups and can only wear slip ons now. image.jpg image.jpg So much for ankle support?

Me either... I don't wear them often, nor need them, but the few times I did buy steel toed shoes they either rubbed my big toe or the side of a smaller toe.

If I ever need a pair, I too will be going the professional fit route myself. Then if there is a problem it should be easier to address too.
