Does any one know if Robertson has automatic trucks now? I'm fixing to applying with them and I would like to take my class A training with them but I do not want restrictions any info would help thanks

All the trucks at Robertson's will soon be automatics unfortunately. The training, it's two weeks of a trainer showing you the plants, how and where to unload the materials(rock and sand) etc. Also, even if you have a class A already, you'll have to do all the dmv tests with one of Robertson's examiner's. If you don't have a class A, they'll teach you. As soon as we go all automatics, you'll have an automatic restriction on your license if they train you.

You'll be paid minimum wage during training, count on at least 60 plus hours a week, same when you're on your own. I average 300-350 miles a night, I believe the most I've done is 420 or so. The trucks.. well the older trucks suck. These things basically run HARD 24 hours a day. Learn to do THOROUGH pre, mid and post trips. The mechanics will usually take care of the issues pretty quick. If you feel a truck is unsafe, don't drive it, regardless of what dispatch says.

They're always hiring, best bet is to go to the office in corona with a copy of your mvr to fill out an app.

As far as experience for other companies.., we don't back up, ever. we never hook/unhook the trailers. When the new trucks come in with the automatics, you'll lose experience with the manuals. So I'm sure other companies won't look at this job as "real" class A experience. However, you'll learn to maneuver in and out of some pretty tight places. Places these trucks probably shouldn't be in lol

Anyway, as I said before, it's not the greatest job, but it's a job that gets you home every night and helps pay the bills. Ignore the BS politics, maintain your truck and you'll be alright. They do plenty random drug tests, and I'm sure they're guys/gals here that have a criminal record, but 98% of my coworkers are good people and will always help you out if you need it, then of course pick on you for a bit afterwards, all in good fun. haha

That's all with the "transport" side, I have no idea what goes on with the mixers, except they're paid hourly. During the interview they'll ask what you want to drive, mixer or doubles.

During training, most likely 70

I average about 60-70 hours a week, I usually gross 1400-1500
