I've worked for them, guys do make that much but it takes years to get a good long run. And ya plan on working close to 70 hours in 5 days to make that. Starting out you will spend the majority of the night working the dock.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Those guys live on the road though. Definitely not home on weekends

It's hard for me to comprehend why guys would go out 1,2 weeks at a time and only bring home 50-60k a year. I know some cos pay more, but from looking at craigslist once in a while, it looks like this is what the norm is. The OTR companies need to step it up with the $$. If I did OTR, id expect at least 90+. Im home every night, and I make over 70.

I hear the Schneider ici drivers make close to 250,000 a year

That's gotta be the driver who stated a couple days ago he takes those .89cpm loads to get from point A to the good paying loads
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

Oil field - Hauling salt water
When I worked 5 on 2 off I made over 100k. I switched to a schedule of 4 on 3 off in 2014 and grossed 92k and in 2015 88k while coming home every night.
It used to be as long as you could breathe, we would train the driver with or without a CDL while they collected a hourly wage + overtime. Now the policy states the new hire has to have their CDL, hazmat, and tanker endorsements.rabbiporkchop and freightwipper Thank this. -
