So I'll start hauling a 9 car trailer this week.
Do any of the vets here have any advice for a newbie?

Stop when you hear a crunching sound.

That is a very broad question. Are you going into training, or just being turned loose with a 9 car and no experience loading and unloading it?

So I have been driving a 4 car trailer. I was running a Massachusetts-Pennsylvania route.
I signed on with an independent contractor doing door to door doing Mass-Florida.
He'll be the one training me on the 9 car trailer

Seriously, you'll want to quit a thousand times. Just keep after it and you'll learn a little bit at a time and within a few months it'll be like riding a bike. Just don't give up. Ask people loading around you, more than 1 if possible. Everyone was new once, just don't give up.
Just the fact that you asked for advice already is a major positive. Shows you care while most just don't give a rats ###. Best of luck to you. Remember I told you don't give up. It ain't rocket science.

So are you talking 8-9 picks and drops?

My advice especially up in the NE, double even triple check your height!

    brian991219 Thanks this.

He said sometimes there are 8-9 pickup and drops, sometimes he will have a full load for a customer somewhere.
Having the right height is what freaks me out at the most.

I would shoot myself if I had to do that many picks and drops. Especially in the NE having to get off of a truck route, no thanks.

You should be very freaked out, especially doing what your boss is wanting you to do. Tell him to leave the stupid POVs to the 3-4 car trailers

Good luck, wish you the best. Been there done that, dont haul that cheap freight to Florida anymore. You'll find out real quick.
