I think this information is wrong, if there was a ticket written it will go on your PSP. I would give it a week and go check your PSP for $10.00.
If a trooper wrote it, it is going on your PSP.
Now if a city officer wrote it, it will not go on your PSP. They don't report to FMCSA.
warning ticket...points on csa???

Pretty sure it's x3 for year 1, x2 for year 2 and x1 for year 3. Never heard of "after 6 months". But maybe something got changed.

If there was no inspection done the citation or warning will NOT appear on your PSP. The FMCSA simply has no way of knowing about it unless it appears on an inspection report or a DOT reportable accident form.
The time weight is <6 months, the violation is worth 3x the points. 6-12 months is 2x. 12-24 months 1x as per here. I believe I remember reading that after that it stays on a carriers record for another year but is worth 0 points, but I'll have to read up on that some more. Also note, these points are for CARRIERS ONLY. Driver scores are, for all intents and purposes, non-existent since the FMCSA will not publish those. Sure you can figure them out using the carrier's scores, but the FMCSA doesn't publish them and they don't show up on the PSP. There is no current mechanism to track a driver's "score" or take action against a driver for having over a certain threshold like for carriers.
This is a good read for what your PSP is about.Last edited: Jun 6, 2016
rachi Thanks this. -
I have a couple of questions then?
A)If these numbers do not exist then why does fmcsa have a sight to check them?
B) Why do companies want a new hire to have a low PSP score?
C) We are reading two different things about points, psp and the law.
Go check your report and see what your score is. Call the safety office for your company and ask them.
Anything and everything you do in that truck is being judged. -
I have seen my PSP report. No where is there a score on it. The FMCSA does NOT have a website to check out a driver's score. They are for CARRIERS ONLY. If you have seen otherwise please link it.

Just curious, where in Tennessee were you? In the 55 truck zone?

It depends on the state. Here a warning from a trooper does not get reported to anyone We give one copy to the driver and file the other copy away.
G13Tomcat and Dominick253 Thank this. -
I'm looking for my most recent psp report and I will get back with ya.
If I remember correctly, there is no actual point total, but there is a classification and it is up to the driver to do the equation to figure the point total.
Example: seat belt ticket = 10 points × 3 = 30 points for the first year. -
Same here, in Ohio. Wife had a couple.AnteyV and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this.

For the company, it's 6 months, 12 months, and 24 months. For the driver it's 12 months, 24 months, and 36 months.RustyBolt Thanks this.
