Looking at an 85 K100 cabover with a 400 Cummins. Is this a feasible otr truck if I don't haul super b's and don't haul mountains? I haul a deck and usually around 60k pounds. Calgary is as far west as I usually go. Haul Midwest us a fair bit.
    Thanks.

Great truck, but competing without an electronic controlled engine will cost fuel. Right now fuel is cheap, but when it goes up again the difference will be more noticeable. Also on an older truck usually the tires will need replacing and oil and wheel seals will leak resulting in needed repairs and delays.

For what the truck is worth, I can afford to spend some money to get it road ready. It has new virgin tires all around. I plan to spend some time getting it ready before it hits the road. Was just concerned about a la k of power. I refuse to look at anything newer than 05 with emissions.

It's a pretty common swap the to go from h20 to air to air isn't it?

Look close at the cross members the aluminum brackets tend to break from corrosion underneath them. Don't see where lack of power would be any issue I pulled a lot grades with a b model cat at 310 hp and never had to be pulled up a grade. Heck even ran a L10 cummins coast to coast isn't going to win any races but got the job done. Just remember you dont run a older cummins like these new ones you will score a liner if you do.

I used to haul 45-48,000 beer loads back in the late 80's, had a Pete 362 with a NTC 350 Cummins and had no issues at all.

Nope. I'm an old trucker trapped in a young truckers body.
