The Valley Highway opened, I believe, in 1957 or there abouts, and has sucked ever since...
Yeh, right, come right through my area and don't even call....

rachi Thanks this. -
Just drove through with a "14' high cube", but apparently it wasn't truly... The tunnel troll gentleman said the sensors would have triggered if it was, so he waved me through. I don't know that I will be so fortunate when there's 2" of ice elevating the rig, and I dread thinking about what the Loveland pass is like especially midwinter.

How high are you?

Well Mopar, he asked this question in June of 2016, so i guess he either made it to Denver or is sitting at the western portal of the tunnel still scratching his head.
Knucklehead Thanks this. -
So those 14ft vans are definitely a no-go east of the Mississippi then? Like if somebody wanted one moved from say, WA to ME, that's a nope?

Oklahoma looks like it's actually 14ft also unless it's some podunky county road. Basically that creates a very clear line between the western states and the "MS River adjacent" states

OK isn’t 14 on the turnpike.
Edit: I could’ve sworn there were 13’6” overpasses on 44 but it looks like I’m mistaken, but that’s normal.Last edited: Apr 25, 2024

First time through with a JB Hunt rig (back when they were ALL the same...) I set the sirens off, due solely to snow on my trailer roof.
Oh, good lord, forget Bertoud! The first time I ever heard my dad swear was when he was driving us over Berthoud in heavy snow in our 1960 Rambler, and he had to get out to put chains on...
The OK Turnpike is an old road; I think it was made just after the war (along with the Kansas Turnpike), back when most trailers were 40' long and 12'6" high...
