Thinking of leaving otr for ltl and just wondering if a backing incident would show up on my record. It was 3 am at a company terminal and I backed into another truck. We both work for the same company and it happened on company property (no police involved at all). No damage to my trailer but I nicked the other guys hood. Called safety and "risk management" the next day and had to describe what happened. Wat does the peanut gallery think?
Would this be on my "record"

Well since you said "Peanut Gallery", guess I need to respond? Course my response doesnt mean nothing and dont mean thats what will happen. If you are in good with the current company and leave them in a good way, they may not put it on your DAC. If youre a pain in the b##t like I am, they may put it on your DAC so just make sure you get the other job b4 you quit.

Did it involve the other truck having to have the nick fixed. If you're lucky maybe they won't count it as a preventable.

Wrong. If you called safety it is on your record. Period. That is what companies do. Now had you just given the guy $20 nothing would have been reported. All companies like to think they are family but the second you have an incident, you are the red headed step child.
eastwood302, roll_tide07, NavigatorWife and 5 others Thank this. -
Yea it will be on your DAC. Preventable.
No damage to the trailer eh? LMFAO
Please honk before your any where near my truck, so I can move.Macneil, roll_tide07 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
The company that you apply at has to send a verification form to all past employers. That's where your company will get you even if they do not use Hirerite/DAC. If you work for a bottom feeder company then they might not fill it out. But by law they have to.

Yes it is on record at the OTR company where it happened. A couple of things.
1. They may or may not choose to share that information with other companies that inquire about your work record with them. They may put it on your DAC, you can get a copy of that for free and see what is on there
2. Employers sometimes have hard and fast policies about this sort of thing ("no accidents in last 12 months" or " No DUI's on driving history" etc). Inquire what the general hiring policies are. it is usually in the advertising involved in the position. Put in an application, answer all questions truthfully. Give full details at whatever interview occurs if it does.
A lot depends on how many applications vs positions needing to be filled in a given time frame. If they have 20 applicants and 5 jobs, they can be choosy. 2 applicants and 1 job, not so much.rocknroll81 Thanks this. -
So it turns out you're actually not perfect? You're done for good. Have fun flipping burgers.
roll_tide07 Thanks this. -

I can't find that video of that dude slamming his brakes on in front of the CRE truck he just passed.
