So last week we got emails from RPM and United Road that Carmax had contracted them for their moves.
Autotransport.com is out...not sure why Carmax did that but doesn't matter.
United Roads and RPM have started posting the Carmax orders...FOR FREAKING LESS THAN HALF WHAT autotransport.com posted before. There's no way in hell we're ever booking something like that.
It's a shame, Carmax moves were always so easy.

    MsRottn Thanks this.

Yeah I've been getting those emails from them now. Every now and then they will call and I'll tell them that if they put it on CD with a decent rate they wouldn't have to send all those stupid emails and call carriers begging to get it moved.

Nothing will change here. My minimum is 50¢/mi per car has been since I started nobody deserves a better rate than that

It's ridiculous. I don't want to say anything directly to them because I don't want it to affect our company's relationship with these other guys. Occasionally they pay ok...so I don't want to seem like we're a bunch of whinos over here. But I'm not taking $170 from Cleveland to Baltimore...Hell no. So it's gonna sit.

Carmax has been shopping lower rates since last fall I believe. I try to avoid those orders as much as possible as those guys can burn hours before they release or check in cars. Or you can go to pick up 4 units & a sales guy puts a hold on one.

Big picture I don't think this is such a bad thing personally. CarMax made out well by reducing payroll within. They no longer have to cut 200 and change different checks a month to "Bob the broker" and yes some carriers. I feel bad for the carriers that lost out but not so much for the brokers. From a carrier stand point I feel its a step in the right direction. If you remove the brokers the carriers can somewhat "control" the rates a little better. Yes the rates aren't where they should be for the times but by removing "Bob sitting in his PJ's at home" we can possibly get them headed in the right direction! This is just my .02 cents but have watched things go backwards since more brokers stepped in. Oh and just incase to clarify "broker" I mean a person or people without trucks that just post loads online.

Yea, I know united roads has a huuuuge fleet. Still doesn't excuse the crap rates they're posting. They're just going to have to do the runs themselves.

I don't care who or how many brokers, load posters or whatever they call themselves are involved, it is up to us the carriers to keep the rates up. Let the #### sit until the rate is acceptable. It's the cheap carriers that I hate, no one else.

I remember when I had 9 different car max pick ups and delivered them all to a new location they had opened. Paid awesome, guess not so much now. Saw a lot of guys from Accelerated hauling a lot of carmax loads up here in New England.

Sucks how so many companies have them so much. UR will struggle with the extra volume and the service CarMax has been getting will no longer be there.
