Tell them you need the miles to make this work out or keep your mouth shut until you get a call from another company , these companies are a dime a dozen and none of them are worth a flying @(#$&
Toomanybikes, Western flyer and sevenmph Thank this. -
The company in question is KLLM. I didn't mention it in the op because I was more or less wanting the question answered than hear a bunch of "oh, KLLM sucks" etc.
The only good part of this ordeal is it's a 100% walk away lease deal. I have that in writing. So here in 2 weeks when my 1 year is up, and I jump ship to another company to be a company driver, they won't be hounding me for money.
And yes, I've been beating them to death with requests for more miles. To no avail. The only reason I haven't told them "get me miles or I walk" is because I'm hoping like hell I finally annoy them enough they give me enough miles to make some profit to get me thru the first week or so with the new company.
Right now my "business plan" is to hope for enough miles to more than just equal the deductions. I know: craptacular business plan. Too bad I didn't know about this site when I started. Cause nobody with the company told me jack squat about business plans, or anything like that. All I got was "the truck is set at 70, they don't hound you for overspeed, over idle, or fuel mileage, you can stay out/take home time for however long you want, and you can refuse any load without repercussion".Voodoo Pyg and Lonesome Thank this. -
I will take the opposite side as I usually do.
You were sc rewed by the big, bad, men at that company. I feel you pain. Let me fix you some hot chocolate and you just lay down and take a nap. Poor sweet baby.
Now go outside and play nice with your friends.TheFriscoKid, spyder7723, peterd and 4 others Thank this. -
So you made a mistake. You weren't ready to be a business owner just yet. Learn from this and years from now you'll laugh about the insanity.
You said it is a walk away lease. Time to walk. TODAY!TheFriscoKid, Donnie1962, misterG and 3 others Thank this. -
Yep, my first truck many moons and a few suns ago was a learning lesson... Lost my fat arse...
No business plan at all, just a down payment and I'll show the world.. This was right after a divorce that cost me a bunch of money.
Was a lot of years before I bought another trk. and it was for all the wrong reasons, but I remembered my past mistakes and made it workGermangirl, Dye Guardian, MJ1657 and 2 others Thank this. -
Yes, they blow all kinds of sunshine up your skirt to tell you all the great things about a LP but leave out the "but you still have to make your lease payments" no matter what.
And of course the don't hound you for fuel related issues since they don't pay for fuel.
No better than peddlers selling snake oil.
You will recover from this and learn from this... And yes, TTR is an awesome site for info.
Good Luck!!! -
There will be a better place for you to land back on your feet with... Do your homework now before jumping though... No need to repeat one bad experience with another.
And with close to a year of experience, you will have many more options available to you. If you have a clean record to go with that year of experience that is.
Again, good luck!!!!snowlauncher Thanks this. -
Yes, just stay cool and leave when your 12 mos. is over. Start the applications right now so you can get an orientation set up and won't have a gap in your driving.

Voodoo Pyg, superflow, CruisingAlong and 1 other person Thank this. -
It kills me how a company would rather churn the puppy mill and hire new drivers rather than doing minimal things to keep their experienced ones happy. Considering the cost of recruiting, training, and getting a new driver up and going, how is this attitude a profitable business model?
To the original poster, driver I feel sorry for your situation and wish the best for you and your family!Badmon Thanks this.
