Can I just ask, how much will they ( Jim Palmer ) work with a student if he is struggling a bit to pick it up ?

I pick on Swift all the time but that is just because I like to beat a dead horse. Swift is a very large company. They don't get to be that large without doing something right. Swift has drivers there who have been there for over 20 years. They must be doing something to keep those folks happy.

I do not like the fact they pay newbies such a low wage. I have never had a trucking job in my short 10 years that paid less then .45 per mile. Never. I also never had a trainer, which is why it took me so long to learn to properly back a trailer.

If I was to do it over again, I would like to have taken a job with a trainer. It would have saved quite a few trees and road signs.

    New here...

I'm a retired army guy, really wanting to make OTR my second career. By far, the obvious choice for this (from what I've read here and on other forums) is Jim Palmer. I am in contact with them.

The opinion I'm hoping to get is regarding use of my GI Bill (post 9/11). Any veterans/retirees who have used this approach?

    Thanks,
    CW3 (RET), US Army

I just used mine in Mar to attend Troops to Transportation and got my CDL and all my endorsements. The process is super easy although I am still in the Army and will be retired in Oct. How long have you been retired?

Retired since 2011. Did you have a contractual obligation on top of using GI Bill?
