Or you might be able to get in with one of the companies that has a lot of automatics, like Werner, just tell them you have to be in an auto.
Got sent home from Schneider training, what company should I go to now?

Work at schneider and they are everything you said .... but from my understanding they will be going to full automatic trucks in the near future...
I am really surprised they did not offer an automatic for you to train with.
With that said at this time most trucks are still ten speeds.. they are going to the automatics slowly and will be full automatics eventually. They won't place a rookie in a new truck, after three months you show good driver they place you in a newer nicer truck. But your first truck wil be an old cheap century ten speed manual. Thus why had to show can drive a manual.
They are an awesome company been real good to me over the years. Care about their drivers.lovespink and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -
Yes, I've heard they are a good company, do you think they would be patient with my shifting?Last edited by a moderator: Jul 24, 2016

I'm not trying to be a deek here, but how did you get a CDL without knowing how to shift properly? I'm serious. I see this all the time on these boards, people who went to a CC or private trainer, and when they get to the show, can't shift, back, or pretrip. Didn't you have to pass some kind of driving test in your state to get a CDL?
To answer your original question.......Millis is out unless you want to got to their school, and even then, you might be out of their hiring area.
Swift is an option as is Conway, Werner and TransAm (they have autos).
Good luck and happy trails......Lepton1 Thanks this. -
I asked about this in another thread, apparently a lot of states are allowing third party testers or allowing their own testers to pass people in autos with no restrictions. There should be a auto trans only restriction if you test in a auto. This is why.Lepton1, firemedic2816 and scottied67 Thank this.

Not putting you down op but until now I didn't realize these schools were putting out drivers that can't shift Manuel tranny , a driver that can't drive a commen Manuel transmission is only half trained .

Oh please don't feel bad. I couldn't shift my way out of a wet paper sack after school. It takes time to get the feel. Just like with backing. Most people can make it around a 4 to 5 block dmv testing route.
Canned Spam, Mike2633, banana1989 and 1 other person Thank this. -
my goodness.......I'll say this much, if you live in GA, you'd better know how to drive and pretrip.

Because the school passed me on a road test in an automatic. I agree with you, I should have been taught more and tested on a 10 speed.
I agree. I wish I had been trained more on a 10 speed. 2hrs was just not enough.Giuseppe Ventolucci and bzinger Thank this. -
