So I have been driving for 5 months. Have been hauling cars for about 4 months.
I have heard from several people that flatbed is the way to go.
I was just curious as to how much on average you guys are making and how could I get started in the field?
Any good companies you guys recommend?
Thanks a bunch

Do you know how the salary is compared to a car hauler salary?

No, I don't know the answer to that.
I added Melton Truck Lines to the mix.
TMC drivers say they make a grand a week working on percentage.mightytrucker Thanks this. -
Flatbed work is a lot easier than car hauling. I've done flatbed and it was good trucking. I've also worked with former car haulers and 100% of them had horrible back problems.

Not sure how it is in Mass,.. but in Fla most guys who haul cars are on percentage and typical rate here is 25%. From a company drivers perspective,.. there is more money to be made in car hauling than flatbed. Plus you see your own bed more often. You would have to put in a lot of miles in order to make the same money doing regular flatbed.
There are specialized carriers and heavy haul where you could make more. If you want to work your way into that segment,.. try someone like ATS and try to work your way into heavy haul. Get a few yrs experience doing that. Keep your record clean and you can work your way to some much better paying companies out there.

Car haulin pays better. Biggest headache in the industry, so it would have to pay better.

I second what hurst said. If you want to do open deck go to a company like ats or keen. They will start you on regular flats and with time and ability you can work your way up the chain to eventually multi axle super loads.
Hurst Thanks this.
