I've taken 3 of those courses so far. 2 through community college and 1 through my current employer. IMO its more of a CYA thing for the company so employees can't come back and say the company never told them the rules. Longest course I did was maybe 4-5 hours IIRC.

 

Not to be rude, but are you then going to be auditing the logs? I'm going out on a limb here, have you personally driven truck?

The reason I ask is my first company had a log auditor. Who didn't know the HOS rules. She inputted paper logs on the computer. Her computer (no way am I being sexist, a man could've done the same thing) would tell her when there was an error and she would ask for the logs to be fixed. But when I would ask her what the issue was, she couldn't tell me an answer. Very frustrating.

I would say who ever puts on the course, and is then in charge of answering log questions, needs to be trained themselves in how to fill out logs correctly.

 

It is also good for truckers to know how to log on paper in case their elog goes down. It has happened in the past to husband and lasted for several days. These copies would have to be scanned and sent in to company.

 

Just teach them how to rip out pages and make them legit with more hours available. Lol

 

Now now, behave. I would guess they want to run legal. No GOOD trucking company these days needs to play with logs. I'm assuming the OP wants to run legal.
