Make sure you buy a white Volvo, it makes the most money out of every other truck known to man

well,i think its worth looking into, rather than saying to hell with it without trying. this aint rocket science guys. believe it or not people HAVE pulled off grander feats than becoming a truck driver on their own with little experience.

he's single, willing to go all in. i would hardly call it impossible. he's likely in a better spot than a lotta guys with all that experience under their belt.

i went from family ltl temp control to on my own with a dry van. no contacts in the dry van arena. not really much farther ahead than the OP. i do have age, experience and clean record, and great credit, which helps on insurance.

If he had deep pockets he wouldn't have to 'save up.'

Kudos to OP for being able to save money. Is it possible, sure. Is it possible before you go broke?

It's kinda like never being in a fight in your entire life, but using your savings to promotes fight between yourself and some hard hitting UFC fighter. The odds of you being successful are not very good. It's harder to be an owner operator than a company driver...wouldn't you want to see they you could make the grade as a company driver first, before going all in with your money?

Being honest with you friend, my money would be on a 30 second KO.

    So how do u
    I have a question.
How do you plan on learning to drive in the winter, or take hills, or take hills in the winter?
Let's say you don't kill yourself, but what about the rest of us that cross your path, our families?
Legitimate question friend. Or do you plan on just driving in the south in the winter, where it's PACKED with people that have no skill and much fear, that might make enough for top Ramen for 4 months.

Top ramen, brings back to mind when I was 10 all we had to eat at one point, was top ramen noodles for two weeks. I swore to myself that when I had kids they would never have that experience.

Guess it's possible. I have a few questions though.
How do you know you will even like trucking? It's not all lollipops and gum drops.

Are you one of those people that think he'll I'm just driving a truck.how hard can it be? Your going to be in for a shock expect 6 to 7 days 10 to 14 hours a day.

Have you researched any at all into this business? There is more to it then I am going to buy a truck and make buckoo bucks.

Start slow get a job offer cdl see if you even like it first. Go company learn some things like safe driving first. as you drive you will learn more and more about things like fed regulations, permits and other legalities you will need to know.

Many people think I want to be a truck driver and within 6 months are done because they hated it.

If you get onto a good company like it, learn and progress. You still have your saved money and possibly more. then you can look into going all in. Before that i would not advise it.

5 years ago I was 22. If I could do it all over again I'd ditch trucking and go back to school. It sucks out here

At some point back when trucks were first invented someone went into the trucking business with no experience. They were successful. Experience will help you avoid mistakes. But it is possible to learn from other people experience. That is Wisdom.

One of the first things I would recommend is education. OOIDA has a series online that is free. Go to http://www.ooida.com/EducationTools/
From there click on the read more button in the Online Education Classes square. That will take you to list of classes. Some of the stuff I have found to be very valuable. Some has less so. But it is a wonderful tool and is priced right. Free.

Good luck to you and don't believe everything out there that is negative.
