Cherries?
hauled a load of them out of the Bonded Nevada State highways warehouse cooler once. #### things are individually counted and double sealed. Temp was on the money all the way east.
I'll never want to haul another load of maschimino Cherries again. I don't have the time, care or desire to cluck and hover over my reefer unit several times an hour for several days and nights for the both of us.
Im led to understand it was a top load and only the most trusted teams get it. So... it's sort of a backhanded honor I guess. But once is enough.

Sitting 3 1/2 days at the point waiting to unload strawberries while they're using your reefer as a warehouse?....Man, I hope they're paying you well for it...
Fruit is tricky, especially berries, the smaller the fruit the bigger pain in the ###....You really gotta pay attention to detail...Make sure you pre-cool your trailer, check the temp & quality when it's being loaded, watch your unit real close in route, use an accurate pulp therm in addition to your unit therm (33-35) too cold they freeze, too warm mold starts, watch them close when unloading.....
Sometimes Ether had another purpose too, but I won't go there...
There shouldn't be any "detention" time upon arrival , get them berries off loaded forthwith, the quicker the better....The longer you hold em, it's on you, good luck.....Crazy Alex Thanks this. -
Speaking of ether, starting fluid you could dump a can inside the air intake of a snoring sleeper truck. Wait 5 minutes and he's unconsious. Get inside and do what you will. Those were the days.

I'd set the temperature at 34 degrees continuous

Yeh and the spark from the door light switch sets off the cab full of ether fumes and you pick yourself off the blacktop while your eyebrows are still smoldering!x1Heavy Thanks this.

200$/day for sitting that's what I request ed or them berries would have been trades for a tank of fuel . As long as you tell the broker what you want they will make it happen. But it's not about the money it's about dealing with the headache if product goes bad and in general reefer needing fuel. Me needing to shower and so on. Things are alright now though lost a good back haul but found an even better one going to mn for tomm delivery then mn to sac. Can't complain

I am way out of date on this! However 35 years ago temperature recorders were put at different locations in the trailer. If the receiver did not like the quality of the product, the recorders showed above desired temperatures, insurance would not cover it. My wife sold a trailer load of strawberry cakes at a farmers market.
Produce used to pay premium money for premium service. I don't know how it pays any more but I am sure truckers get no extra benefits. Now you are being their cold storage? -
Cherries was premium as hell, recorders inside sealed trailer once it reached the precool enough to satisfy Nevada. This was not fooling around. Recorders plural.
We both spend the entire trip wanting those stupid cherries for some stupid reason of suggestion due to it's presence in that box.BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
Smd. I might be calling your insurance company and let them know of what's happening.. it sounds like the making of someone going to try to stick it to you and say product isn't any good considering it is aging and strawberries have a relatively short shelf life...
Interested to know how it turns out. I've never been told straight up they are using me for storage.
