I was curious about Jim Palmer as well. Called and asked what they do with people in between no and 2 years experience. They said "we don't hire them". Said to call back after 18 months and that sometimes they make exceptions for people with excellent safety records that have been with same company for 12 months. They do have great equipment and the pet policy on top of that is like a big shiny cherry on top. And west coast is fine by me. Who knows. Perhaps I'll call back in a year.

I applied and although I went through a CDL School and Graduated, I never obtained my CDL so they consider me a "NO EXPERIENCE" however they said I would probably get fast tracked through training since I have experience????? Who knows

Weird, I have been hauling Tankers Itrastate but off OTR for nearly 6 years and they have me scheduled for orientation in late September. I do have to do 20k miles team though. Promised not the 40k
firemedic2816 Thanks this. -
That's interesting because I'm in school right now getting my CDL and Jim Palmer is one of the companies I'm considering. They have a training program identical to Prime's (and so does Wil-Trans) where the student/new driver goes out with a trainer for 40K miles. It's on their website, take a look. (The 40K thing is actually why I'll probably go with Roehl.)

Check these:
Abilene Motor Express - 68 mph trucks, 100% no-touch freight, .37 cpm starting pay, refrigerator.
Freymiller
Magnum Ltd.
Tyson Foods
All the above hire new cdl grads. If a website has "experience required" then the website isn't up to date.Hoot67 Thanks this. -
Yes. I know. They take 0 experience and 18 months + experience. It's 0-18 months range that I'm talking about. Thanks though and best of luck!

I have a pre-hire from them as well as Crete. Not exactly sure why JP passed on me, I even agreed to do the training for a month since I have been local grocery delivery for the last 4 years. Big G passed on me as well because of my location (SE Louisiana). Ah well. Good luck to you all.Chinatown Thanks this.

Sorry for not being clear: they hire 1) no CDL and no driving experience, 2) CDL but no driving experience, and, of course, 3) experienced drivers. That covers all possible categories. Hope that helps you.

They will count local time also as long as you had previous OTR

3 months otr. 2 years of class b, but that was 8 years ago. Don't think that counts anyway. That's all called should have done my research better from the beginning.
