Was thinking again about own authority . Seems buying a truck and then getting insurance and filing for authority would be quite costly . Truck payments for several months with no loads and who knows when pay comes in .
So is it possible to secure insurance without actually buying a truck first so authority can go through and then buy truck and have insurance rate adjusted for that truck ?

does having an inactive authority do any good? I think that is what you are after. Getting the numbers and putting them in a draw and letting them age like fine wine or girl scout cookies.

Ok so to honestly answer this question. If you are so worried about a truck payment and no authority run under someone else's till yours comes in.

Good luck with Insurance with a new authority period. I'm interested in my own authority for Florida only with a $28,000 truck and a $5000 dry van. First quote came in from progressive yesterday at $23000. 27 years old.. 5 years CDL and 12 years Drivers License. No accidents or tickets ever and a 680 Fico score. Complete joke. Hopefully other agencies might hit me with a winner though.

I was quoted 30k thru progressive found another agenda thru progressive and was quoted 19k I took it. Sometimes the guy just can't quote you right mine is high due to points.

I hear you. Even at 19K a year I'd be breaking the truckers G Code and hauling cheap just to pay bills unless I met a good connect right away.... Unlikely though. I like short loads with lots of detention and 4 1/2 day work weeks. With premiums like that I'm better off just staying where I'm at. Still gonna keep trying though.

You ain't lying. Like I said though this was first quote and I'm not firmilar at all with exactly what I need so I'm pretty sure she was tacking a lot of unnecessary stuff on
