Thanks for the advice. I don't really need help controlling my emotions but the panic from screwing up. When I miss a gear on the downshift it throws me off and my "plan" for that intersection gets screwed so I just bring the truck to a stop and reset at the light. I have a lazy left leg according to the TE and it doesn't seem to want to work as fast which gets that tempo required for the downshift or even upshift off. I have no problems changing gears in the high range but the low range gets me as the gears are much closer together.
And I will be taking your advice and going out with the other TE if I pass their road test again which I expect to.

I do have the Higheay to Success manual and will review it a bit. I was planking on writing a letter and giving it to the instructors but will ask about the survey.

Thanks. I didn't realize that without air you wouldn't hear the selector switch now which makes sense since it hisses when being used. I know the spring method and was taught that. Just give it a wiggle and ensure it moves to tell me the truck is not in gear.
When I told him that he told me that if the gears were worn down that it wouldn't work. -
Once again thanks everyone for the contributions and advice. If ot doesn't work out I will still be looking for a job using my CDL. If truck driving isn't for me that is fine as well but I want to make sure I give it a fair chance as well.

If you don't pass the road test due to using a stick shift; no big deal. Plenty of companies that use automatics will hire you.Keep me posted.El Viajero and Home_on_wheels Thank this.

Thanks. I will do that. In hoping they will work with me. I ran into a guy from my CDL school who was in the class before mine and he said he was given a choice of around 9 trucks. Out of those trucks 4 were automatics.
I'm going to see what happens with my training engineer and retest on Monday.Chinatown Thanks this. -
I am just going to post this random emoji thing as a response to your statement. I'm not sure why I am posting this particular one. I'm also not sure why a grown man would defecate into a garbage bag, in his workplace. What a disgusting idiot. My condolences.
El Viajero Thanks this. -
Also, if this guy yells at you again, feel free to just slap him as hard as you can in the face. Workplace violence is OK, just tell them I gave you the go ahead.
El Viajero Thanks this. -
I'm not sure why either.

As far as him yelling at me, I understand his frustration but I don't understand why he is training me. Teaching is not an easy thing and I told him a few times he needs to be more patient as well as understand that I'm new at driving the truck. At times my shifting gears up and down was nearly perfect but when he started questioning why I shifted now instead of later or why I was unsure of what to do it lead to yelling and that only lead to me driving worse.
Either way I am going to write a letter and hand it to his bosses as I don't feel it was fair for him to say he tried to explain it to me and I was not getting it. He didn't understand that I didn't know what mistakes I was making,
In regards to workplace violence, I've tried to avoid violence towards others in my own life because it leads to trouble. But I must admit some people make it hard to avoid and make me think the trouble might be worth it.
