Hello everyone!! I have trouble with my 1999 Kenworth truck with Caterpillar C15 3406. The problem is it starts ok and run ok just out of no where losses power and sometimes shots off but it starts back again. I already checked the injectors and got fixed, I check all the diesel hoses and replace the old ones, I changed the diesel filters and still us doing the same problem. They already checked with the computer but its not giving any code. Any suggestions? Will be greatly appreciated.

Does that motor have a transfer pump? I know my Acert does and that could be the culprit. Just a guess though.

Starts back up as in you start it or it just comes back to life? Does it do it at odd times? Cam or crank sensor may be faulty or a wire harness issue or a bad conection to the power relay located in the battery box.

Not throwing any codes eh? I wonder if you've got a poor connection or intermittent open in a wire in the keyed power circuit. Would explain engine shutdown without a logged fault code.

When it shots off I start the engine again and start up no problem. But you ready to roll just loses power and sometimes it shots down.

Sounds like a bad connection on power wire for ecm. In the battery box you should see a relay mounted on the front wall of battery box. It will have two studs with a wire on each. Make sure they are tight and clean.

We had problem with some of those trucks and the problem was the fuse panel down there by your left foot was shorting out in back. Used to kick the fuse panel and get power back to everything. Don't know what it would cost to replace but would be a great investment on a very desirable truck.

I have a 2003 Peterbilt 379. When it was new it would sometimes only idle , but would not increase rpm when I stepped on the fuel peddle. It was intermittent.
A mechanic told me I needed to use fuel filters with a separate o-ring in the center. Some have the o-ring built-in.
    This solved my problem.
Your symptoms sound a little different. But this would be something to try and it won't cost much.
