I think those vans and curtain type trailers haul the expensive vehicles. That are worth more then most of us will ever make in our life. Almost.

If your "front" car was behind the sleeper, then you probably do not have car carrying capacity on the power unit, and you do not meet the definition of "carhauler."

FMCSA size and weight pamphlet FHWA-HOP-04-022 reads: "To qualify as automobile and boat transporters, under 23 CFR 658.13 (e)(1)(i)-(ii) and (2), both conventional and stinger-steered vehicles must be capable of carrying cargo on the power unit."

You probably meet the definition of "tractor/trailer" combination, which in most states has a length limit of 53 ft including load - no overhang allowances front or rear over the 53 ft.

I am not familiar with MI length laws, but around here you would get 53 ft trailer and load. Period.
