Care to say what your checks are looking like? Could PM me if you don't want the world to know. You can't beat free insurance that's for sure.
-
yeah, the free insurance is really a no brainier, a nice benefit to have imo. as far as checks for co. drivers, got bunch of friends here, they're avg anywhere near $900 to $1,600 a week doing 53's. i'd say that's pretty #### good, an not to mention, you dont really run hard either nor do they push you to run hard considering you dont waste too much downtime as their on wheels (ingate, check for an empty container and a quick pti of chassis/container, bounce!). it seems that they push the 53ft freight towards the company drivers 98% of the time, the other 2% 20's & 40's but i think they have a great system going for the company drivers. seems like they're the ones winning, but also a good thing for owner operators.. it means that we have all 20's/40's to ourselves lol. i guess a win win for both parties. From time to time, I do 53's... i'll be quite honest man, it's really not that bad pay... i love those 3-8 mile moves 53ft' footer csx boxes out of csx bedford park.. pays like $150-$160 !!!!! You go down the street and ramp it back to csx. A good move to end your day if they have something like that available. Did I mention that 53ft's fuel surcharge is SO MUCH better than domestic which is kind of sad...
There's practically a $20-$30 difference otherwise between a 53ft and a 20/40 in the 20-40mile range.. i'll take it considering the downtime you spend with a 20/40 versues a 53ft. Oh, and also.. CSX 53ft's pay tolls aswell!! Would I do it on a consistent basis.. probably not, but i wouldn't mind it either if i was dispatched... they're smart enough to know that an owner operator will go broke doing 53ft's on a consistent basis and that's whats nice about them... they actually have some common sense when it comes to dispatching. Good folks, @HalpinUout .. you should give them a try if it ever crosses your mind.
Incase you wanted to know @HalpinUout , my cousin's day went like this today (he' a co. driver).
Did a csx 53' up to pleasant prairie, wi (about 60 miles from CSX BEDFORD) .. paid him $117.. then did two crosstowns from CN to CSX 59th (pickup in cn.. drop @ csx 59th and bobtail out..repeat).. paid him each $45.. did $207 in about a 9 hour span.. averaged out to be $23/hr... not bad imo.Last edited: Jun 14, 2016

Yup, you got it down pretty well. And you could keep the 20/40s idk how you guys make $$ between the lifts. I dont cn at all. I love csx 71. Thing is i want to be a o/o but prob not with kiswani and the 20/40s. For now im going to sit back and relax till i see what i want. Might just stay companyHalpinUout Thanks this. -
@4noReason any updates on your pay checks? How many hours do you work? How many miles you usually drive? Give us some details how's your experience so far with Kiswani.
4noReason Thanks this. -
Pay check is hard to say. Because it depends on you. Like lets say you do regional and a short local your good to go around 1200-1500. Throw in a saturday easily 1600-1800. Each load is different. Things slowed down though. Some people not working etc. But show em you want to work. By doing another load pick up a,sat or sun and youll see the checks. My hours per day are btwn 8-14. Like today was 1 regional load and pick up my tom load. Left 430am returned to yard 1230pm. Easy and simple and thats 2,rail yards in a day live load facilityCollosus76, RERM and Dominick253 Thank this.

Hey guys hope everyone is well. New guy here and to trucking in general but not to life lol.
I recently got my CDL 2 weeks ago and have been in the process of looking for a company to work for. I figure I'm going to have to start low somewhere and pay my dues for a while which I'm OK with. Wouldn't be the first time. I'm actually going through the process with Schneider for the Chicago regional Intermodal position but just saw a craigslist ad for Kiswani yesterday. I called them today and they want me to go down there and fill out an app and talk to them.
Hopefully it works out and I'll see you guys out there. No matter what I want to thank you all for all the information you give on here. This is my first time posting but I have been reading for a long while.RERM Thanks this. -
they're good folks, i think you will like them !
Collosus76 Thanks this. -
Well I hope I can get hired on. I did train with an intermodal O/O for a couple of days. Was going to run his truck but after thinking over the deal it wasn't going to be worth it.
I wonder how much training they're willing to give to a rookie driver. Will it be just in intermodal or in general? I know how to "drive" to pass the dmv test to get the CDL which we all know isn't really a lot. All I had to do as far as backing for skill tests was straight back, offset driver side and parallel park driver side. So that's limited as well.
We'll see. I am pretty excited and I hope I can get on with them.
