I replaced my rusted out factory muffler with a high flow unit and now the exhaust is a little too loud for me, especially while using the jakes. Would it quiet it down some if I put a resonator in between the muffler and Y pipe or am I just going to have to live with the sound?

I run a walker resonator on my truck for the same reason.

Once upon a time I would have accused you two of being too old!

My tinnitus reminds me I wish I'd have gotten too old sooner!

You have one in between the muffler and stacks? I'll have to check and see fi they have one that will work with a 6" pipe. I've made two trips with the truck and I don't think I'll be able to live with the noise, cruising speed is tolerable but the jakes are really obnoxious and I found myself not using them as much because of the noise.

Earplugs #### it, you a man or mouse.
=) Anyhow... any way you can do to cause a slow down in exhaust flow or baffle the barks of the jake is a good thing for not being beat up acoustically all day.
Don't choke it too much, it's already probably choked as it is. -
I don't think the muffler has much restriction, I looked inside it and it's basically a hollow tube with the cheese grader type baffles lining the wall. I should've gotten the quiet version but it was more money and the unit I have wasn't supposed to be much louder than stock. I guess that description was spot on like being able to use the factory muffler mounts with a "slight" modification which turned into making all new mounts.

With the windows up the noise is barely noticeable but I'm thinking about the people outside and trying not to get an tickets.
ETA. I noticed that some of the resonators I've looked at say to mount them before the muffler. I wonder what would happen if it was mounted after since I don't have enough room to mount anything extra ahead of the muffler due to Internationals wonderful layout of the exhaust system

I have a Pete so I was able to mount a small resonator beside the passenger battery box before the y pipe.

I would seriously consider going back and buying the other muffler. If you install a resonator you may still not get the noise reduction you want.

Sounds like a set of glasspacks I had once on my 351 winsdor. raise holy hell with them flat out past the farms at 130 and singing at top end.
Regular mufflers would have baffles in them those you want. I'll quiet down now and remember that engine though, I tried so hard to break it it just would not. whadda motor it was... if you hae it set up right to breathe through...
