So my deal on the Pete I wanted didn't pan out so, I am thinking of stretching my truck. I haven't seeing a stretched out T660 in person and I figured why not do that I like the lines of it. I don't want it too long so it's a pain to scale but I do want it longer. Those of you with / had stretched trucks what is / was your wheelbase? Pros and Cons of stretching it? Would you stretch it again if you had the chance ? I am going to be running mostly 40' containers and my 36' end dump.
I like the way these look, they are just too long to be practical.![]()

Ive manhandled stretched trucks in the past. They are nice when you plan a specific accomodation for them such as custom sleeper etc and extra tanks to feed same. But horrible when you are loaded heavy without the extra ballast to hold you down. It's like a giant lever.
Backing those things up in a grocery will make a strong man weep. It can be done but smh... -
I would go about 244 on a aerodynamic truck.
Hype6477 Thanks this. -
The last thing I'll do to my truck is stretch it to a 265. One of our aero trucks is 260 stock, nothing overkill.
Typical trucks are 230 wb now anyways right? -
Ran a freightliner classic for a friend last year that was sick and was stretched to 280 .
Was a sob to get in and out of NY and NJ with and hated it . -
Never thought I would like a stretched truck either. Then I was handed the keys to a 300" wb 386 Pete in the oilfield of all places. Loved that truck. It had like 80,000 miles on it with 550 Cummins and 18 speed. Pulled like a freight train and smoothest ride I ever had in a truck. What really surprised was how well I could get around on lease roads and parking with it....wasn't as bad as I imagined. I would love to own an identical twin to that one.

We never been a fan of streched out trucks. I just don't like the looks of them t600s. We got a k100 that was streched and we put it back to stock.

iv drove 300" 379's before its not as bad as some make it out to be. and they ride great. on a set back truck 280 would probably be the equivalent of 300 or better on a set forward truck.
my current truck is not stretched set back axle i think im at 244 wb and have a pusher axle, its nice for maneuverability and versatility but i would like to be a little longer for my bridge with some of the shorter trailers. i still don't think i would stretch it.
id really like to have a 379 at about 280 wb with a pusher. but im happy with what i have and it makes me money -
You don't want to go to Westside foods kosher dock or mountain States Rosen in the Bronx market with a stretched out truck .
Hype6477 Thanks this. -
IMHO the only trucks that look cool stretched out are cabovers.
Hype6477 Thanks this.
