A local company here is running gliders and happy with them. Theirs have Detroit Diesel remans. Does yours or does Fitzgerald do some thing else? Just curious and hate to see that for you!

I ran a Fitzgerald glider with a 500 Detroit 13 speed only issue was a bad injector which they paid for and truck ran pretty good can't go wrong with a 60 series ddec good reliable motors that will get good fuel mileage.I averaged 8.3 in summer and around 7.8 in winter and I have a heavy foot.

Well, I have 563,000 on my 2013 glider I got in Aug of 2012 with a factory remanned S60 in it. Very pleased with the truck. Used oil samples look as good as they did 400,000 miles ago. Only repair to the engine was exhaust manifold bolts. I'll keep it.

    NWAF and poppapump1332 Thank this.

Had detroit overhaul mine 3 times 100k. I paid 31k total. Then they did it twice under warranty. Then they put complete reman in it to fix oil consumption. On the plus side now the oil consumption had slowed from 4 gal in 10k to 1 gal. In 10k. Dribbles coolant out of overfull all day long. Bout a gal in 12k. And milage is only .4 yearly avg. Lower than wornout motor and it smoke like a cold 855 cummins in 90 degree weather at start up. So i guess im winning? Years of loving detroits. Not so much now. And 40k on reman and rear main is wet. Ive been a truck mechanic longer than owner op. Wish i had done it myself.

There is always a lemon now and then. My S60 uses about 2 qts oil in 22,000 miles at 563,000 on the reman.

My dads n14 at 989k uses 1 quart in 10k. Its 625hp 2250 torque. Well maintaned and worked hard. Has owned it since 450k. Over all average is 6.4mpg. Only internal work has been injectors. Kinda makes my detroit look like a turd. It pulls flat, van and hopper bottom. With flat or hopper its trailer full. Van 40k to 46k. Make my detroit pulling vans only look bad. I drive eazy. But he has 47 years driving. Maybe some day Ill learn to drive that eazy.
